- True be told, one of the best straight forward books about the other face of many brand industries. I would love it to be updated, there are so many others brands out there that need to be exposed.
- This book has information that will make you think about things you used to buy, only for the brand and the "quality". The reality seems to be completely different.
- First I must say Im very surprised that this book is available in spanish only (at least in ) and that no english version exists.
This is a book that tells it like it is to look at coprporations ugly side, you will be amazed on the many "respected" names that have a dark side being that they did or continue doing shameful acts, some inside their country or interest markets, but others how they use the misery, corruption and ignorance of the third world to practice cowboy economics.
Do not get me wrong, Im NOT one of those who is willing to fight any corporation per se or that opposes capitalistic ventures anywhere. Instead, I think this book rallies for a responsible support of Corpwatch as a vigilant eye that influences corporative behaviour in a responsible manner.
Come to think about it, its no wonder the book has no english edition for it would bear much shame on those stocks invested in the US. - You will be impressed by the cases presented in this book. It also describes very well what happens in under developed countries to provide cheap labor costs to big firms. Authors state that they don't encourage boicoting them but certainly creates a critical view in readers regarding the firms that don't care about fair labor conditions or the environment. It is an exellent example of things to avoid for companies committed to Corporate Social Responsability.
