Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who first appeared in publication in 1887. He is the creation of Scottish born author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based detective, Holmes is famous for his intellectual prowess, and is renowned for his skillful use of deductive reasoning (somewhat mistakenly - see inductive reasoning) and astute observation to solve difficult cases. He is arguably the most famous fictional detective ever created, and is one of the best known and most universally recognizable literary characters in any genre.

Conan Doyle wrote four novels and fifty-six short stories that featured Holmes. All but four stories were narrated by Holmes' friend and biographer, Dr. John H. Watson, two having been narrated by Holmes himself, and two others written in the third person. The first two stories, short novels, appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887 and Lippincott's Monthly Magazine in 1890. The character grew tremendously in popularity with the beginning of the first series of short stories in The Strand Magazine in 1891; further series of short stories and two serialized novels appeared almost right up to Conan Doyle's death in 1930. The stories cover a period from around 1878 up to 1903, with a final case in 1914.

This collection contains all the 60 official and the 6 unofficial Sherlock Holmes stories - in total 66 works (the biggest and greatest Sherlock Holmes collection in the eBook world).

Sherlock Holmes The Truly Complete Collection the 60 official stories + the 6 unofficial stories edition by Arthur Conan Doyle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

  • I downloaded this TRULY COMPLETE collection as a freebie, only to discover the claim that this is "truly complete" is either erroneous (at best) or a blatant lie (at worst). All book titles ARE listed, but that only adds to the apparent deception, since THE CASEBOOK OF SHERLOCK HOLMES is missing 10 of the 12 stories that SHOULD be in it. Yes, you get a lot of fabulous, 5-star, Holmes novels and short stories in this incomplete bundle, but because the publisher has made a false claim I have rated it much lower; I hate being lied to. There ARE truly complete sets available, but this isn't one of them.

ADDENDUM Should this review become attached to any OTHER edition than the one for which it was originally meant, let it serve as a warning to carefully examine any prospective version to make certain it truly IS complete. In the world of ebooks, "complete" doesn't always mean that EVERYTHING is included and that NOTHING is missing from it. Always verify that a complete set really is complete.
  • This collection is great for reading on my kindle as the formatting is excellent. It's definitely a five star purchase.
  • While I had previously read Hound of the Baskervilles and A Study in Scarlet, I had not read any other Sherlock Holmes stories. What a mistake. Despite these stories being over 100 years old, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's command of the language and ability to disguise the plots of his stories keeps the reader in suspense until Sir Arthur is ready to reveal them. Sixty-six intriguing stories that will keep you interested.
  • What's not to like? Sherlock Holmes is a classic; one of those characters you wish was real. And then you wish he lived a few doors down from you!. I have read it so many times... and now I have it on my !
If you haven't yet discovered Sherlock Holmes, do yourself a favor and read it. You'll be hooked, just as I was!
  • I don't know if this collection is truly complete. I admit my ignorance on that aspect. But aside from some minor editing issues, this collection was excellent. I will probably read this again and enjoy just as much. For the price, a definite win.
  • I purchased a similar product that had no real organization. This book was free and 100 times better#
  • Elementary! My dear readers, elementary...loved the readings of a great detective. Umm, a advisor. Some of the cases I solved myself and some are still, for me cold cases. Anyway, get the book, for those or you who love old fashion detective work, and have not familiarized themselves with the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
  • I was able to greatly satisfy my desire to read many of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes ' mysteries . There were a few typos in the book but not enough to make it hard to read. I would highly recommend this collection of Sherlock Holmes stories.
