Still a good classic to put under your belt. In a nutshell, I would say this book illustrates some people's inability to ever be satisfied, to find happiness and content. At times cruel and pitiful, it is nonetheless a powerful book."

- I purchased this book after watching Le Prenom (What's in a name?). I was curious and I am happy I read the book, although it is not as grand as Patrick Bruel's character makes you believe. Still a good classic to put under your belt. In a nutshell, I would say this book illustrates some people's inability to ever be satisfied, to find happiness and content. At times cruel and pitiful, it is nonetheless a powerful book.
- So far, I am still at the beginning of this French version, as I am reading it slowly. But having read it in English and Spanish, I am quite grateful to have the opportunity to read this forgotten classic in the original. As an early work to concentrate on the protagonist's interior thoughts and views, it still has resonance in today's world and feels like a modern piece.
- Trop romantique pour ma part. J'ai de plus en plus de mal à lire ce genre d'histoires. Trop prévisible et il y a toujours quelqu'un qui finit mal comme dans "La Dame aux Camélias" d' Alexandre Dumas. Mais bon, j'ai relu l'histoire pour essayer de me rappeler de quoi il s'agissait.
